The Third Laoye Mountain Flower Show held in Qinghai

      the third Laoye Mountain Flower Show was held in Datong County, Qinghai Province, China. Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress, concurrently Chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center Isma’il Tiliwaldi sent a congratulatory message, saying the event held not only extended the influence of Flower Show and its culture, highlighting the attractiveness of Datong, but also contributes hugely to the building-up of the soft and economic development of the ethnic minority regions. The Executive Chairman of CICCC Long Yuxiang attended the opening ceremony and read out this message from Mr. Isma’il.

     Laoye Mountain Flower Show was initially set up in the Ming Dynasty. It is a large-scale folk songs performing activity run on each 6th of the sixth lunar month of Chinese calendar. It was registered as the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006, with the approval of the State Council. In his address, member of the Municipal Standing Committee of Xining, concurrently the Party Secretary of Datong County Yan Shujiang said that Laoye Mountain Flower Show integrated with local and ethnic characteristics which promoted the spirit of self-esteem, self-reliance and self-confidence, expressing people’s dream and pursuit for happy life. ‘Flower’ is not only the very style of folk which represents the northwestern ethnic art, but also a glorious flower blossoms in the hearts of all ethnics living in Qinghai. On top of giving fresh impetus to Datong and Qinghai’s integration into a wider world, the show also promote effectively the Datong’s opening up and tourism development. People of Datong impress the world with their diligence and unpretentiousness, their confidence and pride in Qinghai’s development and the brand-new life they built for themselves. They passed on the passion and dream of building a home for flowers. Han Sheng, the head of Datong County said in his speech that to open up this Flower Show was to present a greeting to the opening of the Eighteenth National Congress of Communist Party. It aimed to make popular the brand of Flower, to show the ecological charm, to highlight the Qinghai’s agricultural characteristics, and to push forward social and economic development.

     Therefore the organizer re-designed and reformed all-roundly the Laoye Mountain Flower Show, forging it with new features of higher level, larger-scale, richer content and wider influence, for the purpose of carrying forward traditional culture, showing Datong’s charm. It provides a platform for opening to the outside world. It also proves to be active measures to optimize the industrial structure, to nurture special brand and to promote economic growth. The Flower Show definitely has profoundly positive implications on the County’s social transition and economic development. The opening ceremony commenced with a cheerful and lighthearted ethnic musical Singing in the Flower Ocean. Sang by Liu Yizhen, Happy Ages presented the audience with blessings. Mr. Crimea performed his specialty song, namely the Girl from Dabancheng, which caused quite a sensation from the audience. Yin Xiumei sang My Country and I beautifully and emotionally, audience hugely touched by her voice. Guo Feng’s enthusiastic performance set off a new upsurge of the ceremony. Sunlight China sang by Yi Miaoying won thunderous applause. What was truly fascinating was the original singing Hua’er, literarily flower. It indicated the graceful bearings and attractiveness of the traditional culture, bringing the ceremony one climax after another.

      Personages including officials from national administrative departments, Province Party Committee of Qinghai, provincial and municipal government attended the event. Among them are Wang Haijing, Mao Xiaobing, Liu Chunyao, Xiao Ping, Chen Ziquan, Wang Xiuzhong, Chen Wentong, Wang Yubo, Zen Qingyong, Wu Yuzhang, Zhao Yongxiang, Wang Jianping, Chang Hong’an, Ma Haiying, Zhang Xuetian, Wang Haihong, Zhang Yonghai and so on.
