      Co-organized by China International Cultural Communication Center and China Charity Project Committee, “In praise of beauty and good deeds--2012 Miss China Pageant finals & prize-giving ceremony was held in Macau on 29th, December 2012. At a time when the whole nation was learning from and being inspired by the essence of the 18th CPC National Congress, the opening of the pageant constituted an opportunity for Chinese from four regions across the Strait to gather and celebrate the new year. The pageant adheres strictly to the mission of pushing forward the course of public welfare undertaking and making more contribution to society. It holds the banner of “In praise of beauty and good deeds”, showing the vivid image if modern women from four regions across the Strait who have proved to be healthy, positive, nature and being eager to make progress. The organizers have worked hard to advance the course of communication between mainland and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, thus the pageant embodied the heartfelt wishes of people from four regions across the Strait. People are of the same race, same origin, same ancestry and same tradition. They have shared interests and shared dreams and they wish for peace, harmony and development.

      Vice chairman of the National People’s Congress, chairman of China International Communication Center (CICCC) Mr. Ismail Tiliwaldi attached great importance to the pageant. He spoke highly of the contribution made by the pageant to the cause of advancement and spread of Chinese culture and to the harmonious development of the relationship between regions across the Strait.

      Executive chairman of CICCC, concurrent chairman of China Charity Project Committee (CCPC) Mr. Long Yuxiang attended and addressed the function. He pointed out that the Miss China Pageant is the great event which promoted hugely communication between four regions across the Strait. For many years, the event contributed noticeably to forge and clarify the shared culture identity among the mentioned regions. It also accelerated considerably to the development of public welfare undertaking. He reiterated that the vital importance of the justice of the judge of the pageant, demanding the pageant must be organized in accordance with its rules, adhering to the principle of “just, transparent, and fair”, consciously accepting public supervision. In so doing, the organizers aimed to make sure the authenticity, just of the pageant. Long went on to claim that the final goal of the function was to promote awareness of public welfare undertaking as well as harmony and friendship between four regions across the Strait. In the future year, cultural exchanges between the mentioned regions were expected to be more intensive and frequent.

      The 2012 Miss China Pageant brought together beauties from four regions across the Strait as well as those from North America. Most of them are now undergraduate students from various and many universities. In the competition contestants wore Cheongsam, swimming suit as well evening dress in order to show their figures, their talent and skills. The contest also included other activities such as puzzles, charity projects and so on. Finally Chinese oversea student coming from North America Li Yang Xiaoqin won the title, Zhang Rujia, from Inner Mongolia won the 1st Runner up and Liu Jiaqi from Anhui Province the third place.
