2013 Ink Stone Culture & Calligraphy & Painting Art Exhibition kicks off in Shanghai

      Co-sponsored by China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC), China Yanhuang Culture Research Association, the Development Joint Association of the Chinese Culture of the Ink Stone, Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the 2013 Ink Stone Culture & Calligraphy & Painting Art Exhibition was held in Shanghai. The First chairman of CICCC Tang Tianbiao, vice chairman Hu Yanlin, Zhang Li, Yu Linxiang, Sha Zukang, Executive chairman Long Yuxiang and former political commissar of the General logistics Department of the PLA Zhang Wentai, former commanding officer and deputy commanding officer of the Armed Police Force Wu Shuangzhan and Liu Hongjun attended the opening ceremony.

     Vice Chairman of the standing committee of the11th National People’s Congress and chairman of the CICCC Isma’il Tiliwaldi attached great importance to the exhibition. Executive chairman of CICCC Long Yuxiang was entrusted with Isma’il’s speech on the opening ceremony. The speech pointed out that the ink stone culture is one part of the Chinese culture. It boasts a long-standing history and profound cultural content. It has been pointed out by the 18th CPC National Congress that to we should strive to pass on the excellent traditional culture, to speed up the Chinese culture advancing towards the world and to build up the international competitiveness of Chinese culture, and to improve the national soft power. Over the recent years, charged by the guiding principle and favorable policy for cultural industry promotion, the ink stone culture has been energetically improved and developed. The exhibition held this time would serve to be a platform for displaying the glory of Chinese traditional culture, which will definitely give vigorous support to the spread of Chinese traditional culture as well as the culture and art of ink stone, the development of the ink stone culture in particular.

      Secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, vice chairman of the CICCC Sha Zukang suggested in his speech that an important reason behind the sustainable living and procreation generation after generation was the traditional culture. We have our shared spiritual home. The Chinese culture boasts a long-standing history, extensive knowledge and profound scholarship, which have nourished the prosperity and cohesiveness of the nation. It is the root of the national survival and development. Sha hoped that the Development Joint Association of the Chinese Culture of the Ink Stone would mobilize and unite a wider range of volunteers to cooperate more intensively on the promotion of Chinese traditional culture.

      The former commanding officer of the Armed Police Force, concurrent president of the Development Joint Association of the Chinese Culture of the Ink Stone Liu Hongjun, vice chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles and inspector Chi Zhigang also addressed the event. They shared the idea that the exhibition not only displayed the unique aesthetic values of Chinese culture, but also blessed the audience with the glory of various ancient Chinese arts.

      The exhibition was divided into seven sessions, namely the History of the Ink Stones, the Contest of the Ink Stones, the Celebrities’ Ink Stones, Fine Ink Stones, the flying Apsaras Ink Stone, Ink Stones of Shanghai collectors, amounting to 500 Ink Stones in total, plus more than 400 calligraphy works and paintings of different times. Visitors to the exhibition would not only have a close look into the various and many famous Ink Stones of primitive times till now, being made by masters of successive dynasties, but also have an opportunity to appreciate Chinese Ink painting and calligraphy works, most of which are masterpiece of famous artist, including the modern master Sheng Peng, Ouyang Zhongshi and many others. Scores calligrapher and painters made their creation on the scene, which gave the audience an entrance to the charm of Chinese traditional culture. In order to promote the young people’s education of Ink Stone culture, and to promote their understanding of the responsibility they shoulder to pass on the traditional Chinese culture, the Development Joint Association of the Chinese Culture of the Ink Stone supervised the manufacture of more than 10 thousand Ink Stones for students from ten primary schools, to encourage them to spread and promote the Chinese traditional culture.

     Art director of the CICCC Sheng Hetai, Head of the Communication Department Xiao Pin, Executive Director of the Overseas Security Work Department Peng Shenglin, leaders of the Shanghai Municipality as well personage of all circles attended the ceremony.
