UN Under-secretary-general Jayantha Dhanapala visit the CICCC

     Long Yuxiang first extended a very warm welcome to Jayantha Dhanapala’s visit, saying the UN has achieved considerably in the course of peace maintenance, development promotion and international cooperation enhancement amongst nations. Recently years the China International Cultural Communication Center has been playing a positive part in various and many UN activities through which the CICCC displayed to the outside world the splendor of Chinese culture, accelerated the cultural exchanges and friendship between different countries. Long went on to state that the CICCC would stay ready to support future tasks of the UN, participate continuously and actively in UN Environment and Develop Conference and Sound of Harmony Artistic Performance in celebrating the UN Public Service Day. In doing so, the organization wished to promote cultural communication and cooperation among nations, to make positive contribution to the constructing of a sustainably peaceful and harmonious world.

      Jayantha Dhanapala extended his gratitude to the CICCC over long-term support and contribution to the UN. He said that the CICCC has not only added greatly to the UN Public Service Day Ceremony but also effectively enhanced cultural exchanges between nations through organizing cultural events with Chinese characteristics, such as Spotlight on Ink—Chinese Calligraphy & Painting Art Exhibition, Sound of Harmony Artistic Performance and many others. He expected and wished a future enhanced cultural cooperation and communication between the UN and the CICCC to accelerate the exchange and harmonious co-existence amongst different cultures. Jayantha Dhanapala urged the CICCC to continue to give full play to the role of a cultural bridge and ties, to take active part in cultural activities and other benefit events organized by the UN and other international bodies, make new contribution to the enhancement of cultural exchanges and friendship between nations.
