      The China International Cultural Communication Center held an event titled Sharing the Chinese Dream & Commemorating Mao Zedong at the Great Hall of the People on 26th Oct as the year marks the 120th birthday of Mao Zedong’s. The event was designed to spread Mao Zedong thoughts, to strengthen convictions and aspirations, to pay tribute to Mao Zedong and his fellow veteran revolutionaries, to express our steadfast conviction of forever following the Party, to promote the Chinese Dream that sums up the ideal of the Chinese national renewal and to unfold before the world exerting bearings of the modern Chinese people.

      Member of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee and deputy director of the Ethnic Affairs Committee Sun Dafa attended and addressed the function. He pointed out that Mao Zedong and his thoughts and are the Party’s and the people’s precious riches of the spiritual wealth. During his glorious lifetime of fighting for the sake of the Chinese People, comrade Mao Zedong had shown his great political vision peculiar to a great revolutionary leader, his steadfast convictions, his superb arts in struggling and outstanding leadership. Nowadays, the country has entered a new stage with new aims to building up a modestly prosperous society and to advance socialist modernization. The Party’s 18th National Conference launched a new expedition towards achieving new victory for socialism with Chinese characteristics. The better way to cherish Mao Zedong’s memory is to adapt the basic tenets of Marxism to China’s conditions, to localize Marxism, to insist on the integration of theory and practice, of study and application, of inheritance and development, to integrate the study of Marxism with the need to resolve practical issues from reform and open to the outside world and modernization, with the great task of building up a modestly prosperous society, with the great project of advancing the Party building, with the practice to transform the subject and object world in order to continuously achieve new development of adapting the basic tenets of Marxism to China’s conditions and enrich and advance Marxism. These are the practical significance of us recalling and commemorating Mao Zedong today.

      Long Yuxiang, Executive chairman of the CICCC explained the immediate significance of holding the event. He said that to commemorate comrade Mao Zedong, we ought to always bear in mind and carry out and forward Mao’s revolutionary beliefs and thoughts; we mean to tell every man and woman of China never forget the past and always remember people with high ideals, one stepping into the breach as another fell, that had spared no effort in fighting for the sake of a happy live now we are enjoying; we ought to cherish the great leader Mao Zedong’s revolutionary determination and lofty character. To commemorate comrade Mao is to attach equal importance to political, economic, military building as well as cultural building. The 18th CPC’s National Conference has put forward the ambitious goal of building a culturally advanced socialist country. There are two meanings to be a culturally advanced country. For one, the country has an advanced culture; secondly, the country relied on culture to propel it stronger. The Conference proved to be a great encouragement with which we would blaze new trails, keep forging ahead, actively promote the model of culture advancing towards the world, keep making positive contribution to the spread of Chinese traditional culture and to the improvement of the country’s image.

      First vice chairman of the CICCC Tang Tianbiao, vice chairman Lei Mingqiu, Hu Yanlin, Zhao Keming, Zhang Li, Yu Linxiang, Sha Zukang, former Red Army soldier Zhou Sufei, leadership and veterans from organs and bodies of the Party and the state, families and caring staff of Mao Zedong, the Press, representatives from the cultural circles, diplomats and foreign friends in a number of 500 attended the event.
