The 8th Miss China Pageant curtain falls

      Sponsored by the China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC) in partnership with the China Charity Project Committee (CCPC), this year’s top domestic benefit contest, the 8th Miss China Pageant finals took place at the Fuqing Culture Center in Fuzhou on 20th December 2013. The event attracted 50 beauties from four regions across the Strait competing for the title, the first and second runner up, plus six individual awards and the Ten Best Contestants Prizes. Leadership from the CICCC, including First Vice Chairman Tang Tianbiao, Executive Chairman and concurrent CCPC Chairman Long Yuxiang, Vice Chairman Lei Mingqiu, Hu Yanlin, Sha Zukang gave prizes out to the winners.

     CICCC Executive Chairman Long Yuxiang addressed the event, saying the Miss China Pageant is aimed to enhance communication and friendship between the mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau through displaying and promoting the healthy, positive, natural and harmonious side of the Chinese women from the across-Strait quadrangle. The pageant attracts a great number of enthusiastic and active young participants from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, highlighting the shared root, culture, ancestors and lineage. The event voices the aspirations for unity and harmonious development of the Chinese people from four regions across the Strait. The 8th Miss China Pageant would purposefully put into effect the spirits of the 3rd Plenary Session of 18th Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, adhere to the principles of justice, openness and fairness and voluntarily welcome supervision from society to ensure the authenticity and equality of the contest.

      The 8th Miss China Pageant was China’s top beauty contest with theme on the values of the pursuing of dreams, health and love, aiming to move forward the development of China’s public welfare undertakings, to raise public awareness of social charity, to call for attention on people’s livelihood and on devotion to public benefit. A great number of college students from provinces across the nation, Hong Kong, Macau as well as Taiwan participated in the competition. Only 50 of them entered the finals. During the final contests, beauties were dressed in ethnic costumes, youth suits, national dresses successively in the walk show sector, which was followed by other steps including talent show, Q & A, charity show. Eventually, Mihray Memet from Xinjiang autonomous region claimed the title. Su Shuxia from Fujian and Chu Ying-ying from Hong Kong took the first runner up and second respectively. In addition, the organizing committee of the pageant also selected the winner for six individual awards and the Ten Best Contestants. Gülbanu Memet, another beauty from Xinjiang earned the Most Photogenic and Best Talent Awards. Lai Fushi from Taiwan won the Finest Disposition and Friendship Awards, whereas the Best Intelligence Award went to Fan Yue from Inner Mongolia and the Compassion Award again to Chu Ying-ying from Hong Kong.

      The organizing committee arranged a special looking-back section on the charity experience of the contestants in the finals. The beauties joined together in a chorus for the theme song A Grateful Heart to mark the conclusion of the whole function.

      Secretary-General of the CICCC Dai Shugao, Art Director Zhang Zongyin, Sheng Hetai, Executive Director at the Mid-Southern Liaison Office Cai Duowen, Vice Chairman of the China Charity Project Committee Amir were present at the scene.
